Ubåt typ A26
En ny generation svenska ubåtar
Kockums is looking for sub-contractors for the A26 project
Kockums AB is under contract from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) to design the next generation submarine, the A26, for the Swedish Navy. Kockums is the Main Contractor and has as such, in addition to the design and construction tasks, the full responsibility to acquire and integrate all ship and combat systems into the submarine. The Design Contract was awarded in February 2010 and covers all system and detail design work until delivery of first submarine. The contract to build the submarines is expected in the fourth quarter 2012.
The work has now progressed to a point where the general arrangement has been set and requirements on the larger systems have been specified. Requests for Quotations (RfQs) for the major systems will be issued during the second quarter 2011. A second batch of RfQs for other systems and equipment is planned to follow three to six months later. All systems, with the exception of the combat management system (CMS) and the ship´s information network system (GMSS) where Saab has been pre-selected by FMV, will be acquired in competition.

Indicative time schedule for the quotation period.
Saab is also contracted by KAB to act as combat system integrator, i.e. being responsible for interfaces between the CMS and the connected sub-systems.
The Project is subject to an overall cost target. The customer, FMV, has put acquisition cost in focus and suppliers will be requested to present cost effective solutions in order to meet the cost target.
