MCMV 36 Styrsö Class
Competitive design at a low price
MCMV 36
The medium-sized Styrsö Class MCMV 36 offers almost the same capabilities as a large mine countermeasures vessel, but at half the investment cost and a much lower life cycle cost.
Turnkey system
The MCMV 36 is delivered as a turnkey system, complete with platform and a MCM combat system, including integrated logisyic support (ILS).
MCMV signatures
The MCMV 36 has very low magnetic and acoustic signatures. The vessel also has very good resistance to shock.
Large open areas and comprehensive auxiliary equipment ensure efficient work on the aft working deck.
The combat information centre (CIC) is located on a lower deck in the aft part of the bridge. Proximity between the bridge command and CIC promotes high work efficiency.
Propulsion and power
Power is supplied by two conventional diesel engines, each driving a fixed pitch propeller through reduction gears with integrated low-speed trolling functions. A hydraulically driven waterjet type bow thruster improves the manoeuvrability during minehunting.
Each of the two main generators is capable of supplying all of the ship’s power demand during normal operation.
MCM combat system
The MCM combat system has in the Swedish version five general operator consoles. The fully integrated system is based on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) technology and is built up around a local area network (LAN).
Navigation and communication
Navigation is handled by an integrated system with sensors, data processing and data distribution facilities. All sensors are connected to the navigation computer, which selects, filters, calculates and distributes navigation data via the LAN.
The storage compartment in the forward part of the superstructure provides an easy handling of the underwater vehicles.
