Today's coast guard vessels are engaged in many and various activities, covering everything from rescue operations and sea traffic control to the prevention of smuggling and environmental protection.
This requires that a vessel must be extremely flexible - the KBV 301 fulfils all advanced requirements for flexibility.
Excellent performance
Kockums has built eleven 20-metre KBV 301 patrol boats for the Swedish Coast Guard. These versatile 66-footers in aluminium or FRP sandwich are designed for offshore operations in the severe weather conditions that prevail in the Baltic and North Sea. Despite their small size the Coast Guard has found their performance to be excellent.
Built for versatility
KBV 301 can be delivered in several versions depending on the operational requirements.
Their role covers rescue operations, control of sea traffic, fisheries and hunting, prevention of drug smuggling and illegal immigration, pollution fighting and control, and the surveillance and protection of historical wrecks against plundering.
Designed to attain a top speed of 34 knots at 34 tons displacement, these vessels are built to DNV classification and Swedish Board of Shipping and Administration requirements.
