Gigantic and impressive, the North Ocean 102 has been docked at Kockums’ engineering wharf for modification, prior to a new assignment, involving high-voltage cable laying for ABB. Some 138 metres in length, she also rises to an impressive height above the waterline. Nearby vessels seem to shrink in comparison.

“North Ocean 102 has to be modified and converted for each specific new cable-laying assignment,” note Kockums’ project manager Camilla Wallentinsson and Peter Holmberg, technical manager for the project. “We worked round the clock, because we had very limited time to get her in shape. We are well suited to this type of assignment. The demands made are extremely high, especially in terms of safety. Furthermore, we had to learn something new every day”, adds Camilla Wallentinsson. The work was ordered by Global Marine Systems.
